James Suckling is widely considered one of the leading wine critics active today. He was already well known as a top expert on the wines of Bordeaux when, in the 2000s, he became a champion of Italian wines.
Many today believe that his support and interest were instrumental in helping to launch the renaissance of Italian wines that took shape by the end of the 21st century’s first decade.
In 2010, as the wine loving public’s focus shifted from print media to online platforms, he launched his website JamesSuckling.com, a leading resource for scores, reviews, tasting notes, and feature stories about wines from around the world.
His passion for the wines of Italy finds one of its expressions in his “Great Wines of Italy” tours. These events, which take place in major cities across the globe (New York, Miami, and Hong Kong, among others), include more than 200 of the greatest and most highly rated Italian wines each year.
